Myanmar's Disaster I'm sure you've all heard about the eMyanmar Disaster. Last weekend Cyclone Nargis swept over Myanmar leaving up to 60,000 people dead. The death toll is rising. 30,000 people are missing, 1 million people left homeless. This is a massive disaster. Borders remain closed... What makes it worst, is this country's borders remain closed to foreigners, making it extremely difficult to get aid to the disaster area. The United Nations and large aid organisations have arrived in Thailand and are ready and waiting to start a large-scale aid operation, but they are not being allowed into Myanmar. The United States and Australia led international calls Tuesday for the military junta in Myanmar to ease entry restrictions to allow disaster relief to reach the cyclone-hit country. President Bush called on Myanmar's military dictators to allow the United States to help. He offered to send the U.S. Navy to take part in the recover-and-relief effort. If anyone would like to help, I've posted a list of relief agencies that need donations for aid to Myanmar. The non-profit list of agencies below was sent out from The Associated Press on May 6th, 2008. (1:07 p.m.)
